No gods, no guilt.
2
:Just the work of being human.
3
:That's the heart of Live Good.
4
:Walk Good.
5
:If you've ever felt the ground shifting
underneath your beliefs, or if you've
6
:quietly thought, maybe I can be
good, just because I choose to be.
7
:If you've ever wondered what it
means to live well without religion,
8
:especially here in the Caribbean, where
faith is woven into so much of our
9
:everyday life, then pull up a chair.
10
:This is your space.
11
:I'm Bianca, your host.
12
:A lifelong question asker, a humanist
and someone who has been on her own
13
:journey of unlearning, reframing,
and figuring out what it really means
14
:to be good without the promise of
heaven and without the fear of hell.
15
:Rooted in a Caribbean lens, but speaking
to a global conversation, we explore
16
:meaning, morality, and the messy
beautiful business of being human.
17
:No divine permission slip required.
18
:Let's start with why
this podcast even exists.
19
:If I'm being honest, for a long
time I didn't think too deeply about
20
:why I believed what I believed.
21
:Like so many of us in the Caribbean,
I grew up in a space where religion
22
:wasn't just something you did on Sunday.
23
:It was in the songs we sang in
devotions at school, the opening
24
:prayers before meetings, the phrases
that you'd hear every single day.
25
:And I don't say that with judgment.
26
:It's part of our cultural
DNA, and I loved it.
27
:I loved the sense of community,
the shared moments, the music.
28
:Even some of the rituals.
29
:But at the same time, I struggled
with the idea that goodness
30
:had to be tied to belief, that
morality needed a divine referee.
31
:And somewhere along the way I started to
ask myself, do I actually believe this?
32
:Or is this just the water I've
been swimming in my whole life?
33
:The seed for this podcast really started
years ago sitting in church, feeling
34
:both connected and disconnected, and
that's when the questions started.
35
:The answers that I found didn't end
up leading me back to those pews.
36
:They led me to humanism.
37
:They led me to this idea that I
can live a good life with kindness,
38
:compassion, integrity, but without
tying any of those things to a
39
:divine reward or a divine punishment.
40
:But when I went looking for
conversations about this in a Caribbean
41
:context, I found almost nothing.
42
:I could find lots of YouTube
debates between atheists and
43
:pastors from the UK or the US.
44
:I could find self-help podcasts
telling me how to manifest abundance.
45
:I could find online groups that
leaned heavily skeptic and felt
46
:more like they just wanted to bash
religion, and those who believed.
47
:What I couldn't find was a space that
felt like home, where we could talk
48
:about meaning, morality, and community
in a way that's rooted in our stories,
49
:our rhythms, our sense of belonging.
50
:I realized there was a gap in our
conversations here in the Caribbean
51
:because if you leave the church or if
you never belonged in the first place,
52
:where do you go to talk about values,
about purpose, about living a meaningful
53
:life without that religious framework?
54
:I wanted to create that space,
not to attack faith, but
55
:to explore life beyond it.
56
:That's really the gap that
I want this podcast to fill.
57
:It's not an anti-religion podcast.
58
:There are no shouting matches here.
59
:I'm not here to tear down anybody's faith.
60
:It's definitely not a self-help quick
fix podcast filled with fluff either.
61
:I'm not looking to give anybody 10
steps to fix your life by Friday.
62
:It is a place for honest, thoughtful,
sometimes messy human conversations
63
:about what it means to live good
and walk good on your own terms.
64
:Where your belief or the absence
of it is just one part of the
65
:story, not the whole story.
66
:A space where we can talk about
living well, caring for each other
67
:and finding purpose without needing
a stamp of approval from the heavens.
68
:So who is this podcast really for?
69
:If you're listening to this, maybe
you're in that quiet in-between place.
70
:Maybe you've started to realize
that the faith you grew up
71
:with doesn't quite fit anymore.
72
:Like a shirt that shrank in the
wash, you can still put it on, but
73
:it's tight in all the wrong places.
74
:Or maybe you've never been religious,
but you've always felt the side
75
:eye, that unspoken assumption that
without God in your life, you must be
76
:lost, selfish, or somehow less than.
77
:You're here because you want to live with
purpose, to love people well, to do right
78
:in the world, to stand for something.
79
:But you don't need divine
surveillance to keep you in line.
80
:You're tired of being told that your
only options are to be devote or to be
81
:directionless, and you want the third way.
82
:The way that says morality, compassion,
and joy are human responsibilities,
83
:not heavenly assignments.
84
:This is for the person who maybe
has stepped away from organized
85
:religion but still wants to live
with intention and integrity.
86
:It's for the person who's craving ritual,
meaning and connection, but doesn't
87
:want to have to say a creed to belong.
88
:It's for the person who's tired of the
idea that without God, you're lost.
89
:And maybe you also want to hear from
somebody who knows the Caribbean
90
:experience, the way faith is baked
into the food, the greetings, the
91
:national holidays, but also sees
the beauty and belonging that we
92
:can have outside of that framework.
93
:If you've ever thought, I want to
live well, I just don't need church to
94
:tell me how, this podcast is for you.
95
:So here's what you can expect
from Live Good, Walk Good.
96
:The theme of this first season
is the beginning -why we seek.
97
:We're starting where all good journeys
start, with the deep down hunger that
98
:makes us ask questions in the first place.
99
:What are we looking for
when we look for meaning?
100
:Why do we reach for ritual?
101
:What makes us want to be good.
102
:And how do we decide what that even means?
103
:We'll look at how we start building
an ethical life without religion.
104
:We'll talk about letting go of
inherited beliefs, finding your moral
105
:compass, craving ritual, and building
belonging outside belief systems.
106
:And because this is all rooted in a
Caribbean context, we'll be drawing
107
:from our culture, our history, our
values, and seeing how much of what
108
:we already live is humanist at heart.
109
:You'll get a mix of things as we
explore these topics, but each week
110
:you will get honest conversation.
111
:Some weeks it'll just be me
sharing stories, exploring ideas,
112
:pulling threads from history,
philosophy, and lived experience.
113
:Other weeks I will bring in guests.
114
:People who are doing the work
of living well without leaning
115
:on religious scaffolding.
116
:Sometimes, they'll be
thinkers and writers.
117
:Sometimes, they might just be
your neighbor down the street who
118
:quietly does extraordinary good.
119
:You'll also get small humanist
practices to try that you can actually
120
:take into your own life that week.
121
:Not a to-do list, not homework, just
an invitation to live some of these
122
:ideas and not just think about them.
123
:And at the end of each episode,
you'll also get a short reflection
124
:prompt to help you go deeper in
your own thinking about the topics.
125
:And even though this is a Caribbean
rooted space where the accents, the
126
:idioms, the cultural touchstones will feel
familiar, the conversations are really
127
:for anyone, anywhere, because this work
of being human doesn't have borders.
128
:But who is guiding you
through all of this?
129
:I'm Bianca.
130
:I wear a lot of hat s, innovation
strategist, writer, community builder.
131
:But underneath all of it, I
am a lifelong question asker.
132
:I've spent a lot of my career
working at the intersection of
133
:ideas and impact, helping people and
organizations imagine better futures,
134
:and then actually creating them.
135
:I've worked on projects around purpose,
creativity, ethical technology, often
136
:dealing with big questions about
how we live and work and how we care
137
:for each other in a changing world.
138
:I am building my career now in spaces
where ethics, purpose, and impact matter,
139
:and I've spent my personal life asking
those questions about how to live well.
140
:But if we're going to spend this time
together, you should know I'm not here
141
:as an expert with all the answers.
142
:I am here as someone
walking this path with you.
143
:I've had my own personal journey of
stepping away from inherited beliefs.
144
:Of realizing that I could let go of the
framework I was given without losing
145
:the values that mattered most to me.
146
:In fact, I could make those values
even stronger because they were
147
:mine by choice, not by default.
148
:So why do I care about this work?
149
:Because I know what it feels like to be
the person quietly questioning in a place
150
:where everybody assumes you believe.
151
:I know what it feels like to wonder, if
I'm not religious, where do I belong?
152
:And I believe that we need more spaces,
especially in the Caribbean, where
153
:people can explore those questions
without fear, without shame, and
154
:without losing the parts of our
culture that make us who we are.
155
:That's why I'm here, to have the
conversations I wish I'd had when I
156
:first started asking these big questions.
157
:To make it easier for you to
explore your own path and remind you
158
:that you're not walking it alone.
159
:I believe we can create a life
philosophy that's grounded in care,
160
:community, and courage, but without
myth, without guilt, and without fear.
161
:If this sounds, that kind of
conversation you've been craving,
162
:now's the time to subscribe or follow
wherever you get your podcasts.
163
:That way you won't miss a single episode.
164
:And here's a small challenge.
165
:Share this with one friend who you
know would love these conversations.
166
:Doesn't have to be 10 or 20,
although that would be amazing.
167
:But start with just one person.
168
:That's how conversations open.
169
:That's how movements grow.
170
:Our first full episode
is going to drop soon.
171
:And it's called "What if I'm just good?
172
:And that's enough.
173
:We'll explore what happens when you
strip away these divine rules and still
174
:choose kindness, justice, and compassion,
simply because they're worth choosing.
175
:Because maybe goodness
doesn't need permission.
176
:Maybe it just needs you.
177
:Until then, Live Good.
178
:Walk Good.
